The red deer (Cervus elaphus) is a defining species of the Scottish Highlands, commonly found across landscapes such as Torridon in the Northwest Highlands. These areas provide a mix of woodland cover and open grazing, supporting healthy populations of deer that have long been part of the region’s natural and cultural heritage. Male deer, known as stags or harts, are recognised by their antlers, which are regrown annually and covered in velvet during the growth phase.
A stag lies partially concealed within dense bracken, its body low to the ground while its head is raised and turned slightly to one side. The velvet-covered antlers branch outward with a smooth, rounded form, standing out against the layered woodland behind. Soft greens dominate the scene, with tree trunks adding vertical structure and depth, while the shallow focus keeps attention on the stag’s calm but alert presence.

Each print is mounted onto black, 3mm Foamex - an ultra-durable, moisture-resistant PVC substrate that remains lightweight yet rigid. Perfect for displaying on an easel or mounting with the included Velcro strips, without the need for framing.

Optional lamination is available in satin or gloss to match your selected paper, providing extra protection against moisture and handling. However, lamination is not recommended for Fine Art Matt paper, as it will obscure its authentic texture.
