The red deer (Cervus elaphus) is a defining species of the Scottish Highlands, commonly found in areas such as Torridon in the Northwest Highlands where open slopes and rough grazing provide ideal conditions. These deer have long been part of the region’s landscape and heritage, with stags, or harts, particularly noted for their antlers, which are regrown each year and initially covered in soft velvet during the growth phase.
In this image, the stag stands within a mix of grasses and low vegetation, its body angled slightly across the frame while its head turns toward the viewer. The warm, russet coat contrasts with the surrounding greens, and the velvet-covered antlers extend outward with a smooth, organic shape. Optional lamination is available in satin or gloss to match your selected paper, providing extra protection against moisture and handling. However, lamination is not recommended for Fine Art Matt paper, as it will obscure its authentic texture.
