Absolutely wonderful photo! I bought it for my grandson but my daughter loved it so much that we decided it would be a waste to put it on his bedroom wall. The quality and detail demands a place where everyone can see it. I would definitely recommend this to family and friends. Thank you for the quick delivery too! - Janet T., Sheffield
Cornish Tin Mines mounted foamex print - lightweight, contemporary and available up to 30in x 20in.
Elevated above dense greenery, South Wheal Frances Mine creates a strong and atmospheric focal point suited to modern or heritage interiors. Ideal for living rooms, studies, or feature spaces, it pairs well with neutral tones and monochrome palettes, adding depth and presence.
South Wheal Frances is a former copper and tin mine on the Great Flat Lode, just south of Camborne, Cornwall, and was the largest of the four setts that eventually amalgamated under the umbrella of Basset Mines Ltd.
Mining began in the local area in the early 1720s and by the early 20th century, several thousand men, women, bal maidens and children worked in the mine, however a slump in tin prices during World War I led to the mine's closure in 1918. Once part of a network of mines that shaped the Cornish landscape and economy, the remaining engine houses and chimneys now stand as reminders of 19th-century mining activity. These structures were built to house steam engines used for pumping water and raising ore from deep underground.
Set against a cloudy sky, the engine house and chimney rise above dense vegetation in a monochrome composition. The surrounding foliage forms a textured foreground, while the building sits slightly elevated, drawing attention to its form. The absence of colour emphasises contrast and structure, giving the scene a stark and atmospheric quality.
Enjoy a premium photographic print with three paper options, each designed to suit different lighting conditions and artistic preferences:
Each print is mounted onto black, 3mm Foamex - an ultra-durable, moisture-resistant PVC substrate that remains lightweight yet rigid. Perfect for displaying on an easel or mounting with the included Velcro strips, without the need for framing.
Supplied without a border unless otherwise specified.
Optional lamination is available in satin or gloss to match your selected paper, providing extra protection against moisture and handling. However, lamination is not recommended for Fine Art Matt paper, as it will obscure its authentic texture.
