Poldice Mine, located near the hamlet of Todpool in Cornwall, has a long industrial history dating back to the early 1500s. Over several centuries, the site produced tin, copper, and later arsenic, reflecting Cornwall’s importance in Britain’s mining heritage. By the early 20th century, operations had ceased, leaving behind a landscape shaped by extraction and industry. Today, the remains form part of the wider Cornish mining legacy, where scattered structures and altered ground still mark the presence of past activity.
Low stone and concrete remains sit within open ground, surrounded by rough vegetation and patches of heather. Under a heavy, overcast sky, the muted colours and soft light emphasise the textures of the terrain, while the composition keeps the focus on the quiet remnants of the site.
