The Monastery of Batalha stands as one of Portugal’s most important Gothic landmarks, built in the late 14th century to commemorate the victory at the Battle of Aljubarrota. Its architecture combines Gothic structure with elaborate Manueline detailing, reflecting both religious devotion and the growing influence of Portugal during the Age of Discovery. The façade is richly decorated with sculptural elements that demonstrate the skill and ambition of medieval craftsmen.
