The Monastery of Batalha is one of Portugal’s finest examples of Gothic architecture, built in the late 14th century to mark the victory at the Battle of Aljubarrota. Its soaring interior spaces were designed to inspire both reverence and awe, with tall columns, ribbed vaults, and stained glass combining to create a powerful sense of height and light. The structure reflects the skill of medieval craftsmen and the importance of the monastery as a national symbol.
