Greek Historic Buildings mounted foamex print - lightweight, contemporary and available up to 30in x 20in.
As Rhodes wall art, it offers a wider narrative of the harbour, well suited to feature walls or interiors inspired by travel and coastal heritage.
The three surviving stone windmills on the eastern mole of Mandraki Harbour in Rhodes date from the 14th century and were built during the rule of Grand Master Diedoné de Gozon (1346-1353). Historical sources record that they were constructed by Genoese prisoners and formed part of a chain of about 18 windmills lining the harbour walls. Their primary purpose was to grind grain unloaded from merchant vessels, which was then stored in warehouses inside the fortified town. The line of mills extended towards the medieval Fort of St Nicholas, completed in 1464, which guarded the harbour entrance. Over the centuries, storms, neglect, and changes in shipping reduced their number to three, which have since been restored. Today they stand as an enduring reminder of the island's maritime trade and the engineering skill of the Knights Hospitaller.
I chose to photograph this view leading the eye down the harbour wall toward the lighthouse-topped St Nicholas Fortress, with all three windmills lining the path to the right. It's a classic Rhodes scene that balances light, history, and open space. The late sun catches the stone just enough to warm the tones without overdoing it. A lovely print if you're drawn to long views and peaceful horizons.
Enjoy a premium photographic print with three paper options, each designed to suit different lighting conditions and artistic preferences:
Each print is mounted onto black, 3mm Foamex - an ultra-durable, moisture-resistant PVC substrate that remains lightweight yet rigid. Perfect for displaying on an easel or mounting with the included Velcro strips, without the need for framing.
Supplied without a border unless otherwise specified.
Optional lamination is available in satin or gloss to match your selected paper, providing extra protection against moisture and handling. However, lamination is not recommended for Fine Art Matt paper, as it will obscure its authentic texture.
