Originally built in the 13th century, the castle has been rebuilt and restored over time, becoming a symbol of Scotland’s heritage and landscape. Its position, linked to the mainland by a stone bridge, gives it a distinctive and balanced setting.
The view frames the castle slightly off-centre, with the stone bridge leading toward it from the left. The foreground of rock and shoreline adds texture, while the green hills and woodland rise behind. Breaks in the cloud allow light to fall across parts of the landscape, adding contrast and depth to the scene.
