Strome Castle stands on a rocky promontory overlooking Loch Carron in the western Highlands of Scotland. Built in the fifteenth century by the Macdonalds of Lochalsh, the castle later passed to the Mackenzies before being partially destroyed in clan conflict. Today, its ruined walls remain as a quiet reminder of the region’s turbulent past, set against a landscape of water, steep hills and shifting Highland weather.
This black and white photograph captures the castle ruins perched on the right-hand slope, with the loch stretching calmly into the distance beneath heavy cloud.
