Many butterfly species begin life as caterpillars before forming a chrysalis, or pupa, in which they undergo metamorphosis into their adult form. During this stage, the outer casing protects the developing insect as it transforms internally. The shape and colour of a chrysalis often help it blend into surrounding vegetation, providing a degree of camouflage from predators.
Suspended beneath a leaf, the chrysalis hangs in a teardrop shape, its smooth green surface closely matching the surrounding foliage. Fine details are visible along the edges of the leaves, while the background falls away into a soft blur of darker greens. Optional lamination is available in satin or gloss to match your selected paper, providing extra protection against moisture and handling. However, lamination is not recommended for Fine Art Matt paper, as it will obscure its authentic texture.
Butterfly Chrysalis butterfly foam backed prints are printed to order and usually shipped within 3-4 business days. Please allow a further 2-3 days from the despatch date to receive your item (not including weekends or bank holidays).
