The zebra longwing butterfly (Heliconius charithonia) is a tropical species found across Central and South America, as well as parts of the southern United States. Recognised by its elongated wings marked with bold black and pale stripes, it is part of a group known for Müllerian mimicry, where similar patterns signal toxicity to predators. Unlike many butterflies, it feeds on both nectar and pollen, contributing to its relatively long lifespan.
Perched lightly on a leaf, the butterfly is shown side-on, its wings closed to reveal the distinctive striped pattern. The fine structure of the wings and slender body are clearly defined, while the soft green background creates a smooth contrast. The composition keeps the focus on pattern and form, with a clean, uncluttered feel.

Optional lamination is available in satin or gloss to match your selected paper, providing extra protection against moisture and handling. However, lamination is not recommended for Fine Art Matt paper, as it will obscure its authentic texture.
Zebra Longwing Butterfly butterfly foam backed prints are printed to order and usually shipped within 3-4 business days. Please allow a further 2-3 days from the despatch date to receive your item (not including weekends or bank holidays).
