Portland Head Light stands on the rocky headland of Cape Elizabeth in Maine and is the oldest lighthouse in the state. Commissioned by George Washington and first lit in 1791, it was built to guide ships safely into the busy harbour of Portland. Over the centuries the lighthouse has become one of the most recognised coastal landmarks in the United States, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean from the dramatic cliffs of Fort Williams Park.
In this photograph, the white lighthouse tower rises above the rugged rocks and the blue Atlantic beyond. The adjacent keeper’s house and buildings sit beside the tower, adding a sense of scale to the scene. Optional lamination is available in satin or gloss to match your selected paper, providing extra protection against moisture and handling. However, lamination is not recommended for Fine Art Matt paper, as it will obscure its authentic texture.
