Fantastic artwork, great service, from ordering to delivery - Alyson Key
Greek Historic Buildings art prints - professionally printed and available up to 30in x 20in.
As Rhodes wall art, it introduces texture, symmetry and coastal heritage into living rooms, studies or hallways with a Mediterranean theme.
The three surviving stone windmills on the eastern mole of Mandraki Harbour in Rhodes date from the 14th century and were built during the rule of Grand Master Diedoné de Gozon (1346-1353). Historical sources record that they were constructed by Genoese prisoners and formed part of a chain of about 18 windmills lining the harbour walls. Their primary purpose was to grind grain unloaded from merchant vessels, which was then stored in warehouses inside the fortified town. The line of mills extended towards the medieval Fort of St Nicholas, completed in 1464, which guarded the harbour entrance. Over the centuries, storms, neglect, and changes in shipping reduced their number to three, which have since been restored. Today they stand as an enduring reminder of the island's maritime trade and the engineering skill of the Knights Hospitaller.
Photographing the harbour on a hot afternoon, my image brings the foremost windmill into sharp focus, with two others sitting just behind it in softer light. The layers of perspective create a sense of depth and rhythm, while the golden tones of the late sun give the stone a warm, earthy feel. It's a balanced composition that feels both grounded and airy.
Bring stunning photography into your space with this high-quality art print, designed for exceptional detail and longevity. Printed on Premium Lustre Photographic - a semi-matt finish with a subtle, speckled sheen that minimizes glare, making it ideal for bright rooms or spaces with direct lighting. Its subtle texture adds depth, while supporting deeper colour saturation than standard matte photo prints.
Each rhodes windmills art print includes a 1/4-inch white border by default, providing a refined, ready-to-frame presentation. Need a custom border size or colour? I offer tailored options upon request to match your specific framing or display preferences.
