Found sunbathing across Greece and the eastern Med, the starred agama (Stellagama stellio), also known as the roughtail rock agama, are little show-offs famous for their impressive colours and even more impressive attitude. Males especially love to puff up their throats and nod their heads when trying to look important - like tiny reptilian bodybuilders. Agamas can change colour slightly depending on their mood or the temperature, and they're brilliantly adapted to rocky, sun-blasted places like Agia Agathi Beach. You'll often spot them flattening themselves on warm stone, pretending to be casual, while keeping one eye fixed right on you. Sassy, ancient, and unbothered - they're lizards with presence.
Photographed from below, this agama lounges like a boss on top of a sun-warmed rock. You can see the bold yellow spots on his throat and that single, slightly suspicious eye watching from above. It's an unusual angle that makes him look both majestic and just a little bit nosy. A great pick for someone who loves overlooked perspectives or reptiles with personality.
