These environments provide a mix of open grazing and natural cover, supporting long-established populations. Male deer, known as stags or harts, are distinguished by their antlers, which are shed and regrown each year, initially covered in soft velvet during their development.
A stag stands within a patch of rough grass and low vegetation, its body angled across the frame while its head turns slightly toward the viewer.
