Five days after the full Moon, the lunar surface enters the waning gibbous phase, with around 83% illumination. During this stage, shadows begin to return along the terminator line, enhancing the visibility of craters, ridges, and surface texture. This shifting light reveals detail that is less pronounced at full illumination, making it a particularly interesting phase for observation. Captured through a 130mm f/900 Newtonian telescope, this view highlights the Moon’s changing appearance as it moves through its cycle.
