The Flower Moon is the traditional name for May’s full Moon, marking the height of spring when flowers are in full bloom. In 2020, this was also the final supermoon of the year, appearing slightly larger and brighter as it occurred when the Moon was closer to Earth in its orbit. Captured with a 130mm f/900 Newtonian telescope, this image reveals fine detail across the lunar surface.
In this image, the Moon is shown in full illumination against a deep black sky. Darker lunar maria contrast with the brighter highlands, while cratered regions and subtle shading add depth and texture. The composition is clean and centred, emphasising clarity and structure.
