The pied tamarin (Saguinus bicolor) is a small primate native to the Amazon rainforest, most notably around the region of Manaus in Brazil. Recognised by its contrasting white upper body and darker limbs, it is one of the more distinctive tamarin species. Pied tamarins are highly social animals, living in small groups and moving through the forest canopy in search of fruit, insects, and tree sap. Due to habitat loss, the species is considered endangered, making it an important focus for conservation efforts.
