The Lord Leycester Hospital in Warwick is a well-preserved example of medieval architecture, with origins dating back to the 14th century. Originally part of a guild complex, it later became a retirement home for ex-servicemen in the 16th century, a role it continues to fulfil today. Its timber-framed buildings, set alongside the historic West Gate, reflect traditional construction methods and the long continuity of use within the town.
In this image, the buildings are presented in monochrome, emphasising the contrast between dark timber beams and lighter infill panels. The row of structures leads the eye along the street toward the gatehouse, creating depth and perspective. The absence of colour highlights texture and form, reinforcing the sense of age and architectural detail.
