Cauldron Falls, also known as West Burton Falls, lies on Walden Beck in the village of West Burton near Leyburn in North Yorkshire. This well-known Yorkshire Dales waterfall has long been a focal point within the village, easily reached from the green. The falls spill over a broad rock ledge into shallow pools below, their name reflecting the churning, cauldron-like movement of water. Surrounded by woodland and stone, it has remained a place of quiet retreat, shaped by both natural flow and centuries of local presence.
Water flows in a smooth cascade over the rock face, softened by long exposure into a mist-like veil. In the foreground, still water reflects the surrounding stones and overhanging branches, while muted tones create a calm, atmospheric scene.
