About the Image

The small port of Whitby and the East Cliff, near Scarborough, North Yorkshire, taken from the top of Spion Kop, Khyber Pass. The ruined gothic Whitby Abbey was Bram Stoker’s inspiration for “Dracula”. There are 199 steps up to reach that and the nearby Church of St. Mary. The town is also where Captain James Cook served his apprenticeship
