These scars are shaped by centuries of erosion, where softer rock has worn away to leave exposed bands of pale limestone cutting across the hillside. The area is steeped in walking routes and local history, with paths that have long been used by farmers and travellers moving through the dale.
Light moves across the slope, picking out the textures of grass and exposed rock while darker cloud gathers overhead.
