The moon jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) is one of the most common jellyfish species, found throughout the world’s oceans and regularly present in UK waters. Its translucent, rounded bell and gentle pulsing movement make it instantly recognisable. Typically reaching the size of a dinner plate, it is composed of around 95% water and, like all jellyfish, has no brain, blood, or heart, drifting with currents as it feeds on plankton.

The nearer jellyfish reveals intricate internal structures, including the distinctive circular organs, while the second form sits partially behind, adding depth.
