Headstone Tunnel is one of several tunnels along the former Midland Railway line that now forms part of the Monsal Trail in the Peak District. Built in the 19th century, it allowed trains to pass through the challenging limestone terrain of the Wye Valley. The tunnel stands as a reminder of Victorian engineering, where precision and durability were essential to connect remote areas by rail. Today, it offers a distinctive passage through the landscape, blending industrial heritage with present-day use.
