Thurgoland Tunnel forms part of the Trans Pennine Trail, a long-distance route that follows former railway lines across northern England. Stretching for around 924 feet between Penistone and Wortley, the tunnel is now open and accessible, offering a glimpse into the region’s industrial past. Once used for rail transport, it now serves walkers and cyclists, repurposed as part of a wider network connecting landscapes and communities.
