Sacred by name and revered by history, the sacred ibis has long captured human imagination. In ancient Egypt, these striking birds were associated with the god Thoth and symbolised wisdom and writing - many were even mummified and buried as offerings.
With their bold black beaks, bare heads and white bodies, sacred ibises have a commanding presence. They're social birds, often found foraging in groups in wetlands, swamps and grasslands. Watching them delicately pick through water with those curved beaks is a fascinating sight, and their slightly prehistoric look makes them even more intriguing.
Here's a sacred ibis striking a perfect pose - standing tall on a branch, its curved beak turned just enough to show off both grace and character. The mix of textures in its plumage, the graceful arch of its neck, and the lush, blurred background make this a wonderfully atmospheric capture.

Supplied without a border unless otherwise specified.
Optional lamination is available in satin or gloss to match your selected paper, providing extra protection against moisture and handling. However, lamination is not recommended for Fine Art Matt paper, as it will obscure its authentic texture.
