Ashgill Force is a waterfall located near Alston in Cumbria, set within a wooded valley shaped by flowing water and exposed rock. The area is part of the North Pennines landscape, where streams cut through layers of stone to form cascades and pools. Surrounded by dense greenery, the setting reflects the natural character of upland woodland and river systems.
Water flows gently over a low rock ledge into a clear pool, where stones beneath the surface remain visible through the still water. The foreground rocks create depth, while reflections ripple across the pool’s surface. Trees and vegetation frame the scene, and the balanced composition draws attention to both the waterfall and the calm water below.
