A wild chipmunk spotted at North Bridge, Concord, Massachusetts. There was a whole 'scurry' of them scrambling around the rocks and walls and they weren't the least bit bothered of people.
Chipmunks are small, ground-dwelling rodents recognised for their striped backs and alert behaviour. Found across parts of North America, they inhabit woodland, grassland, and rocky environments where they forage for seeds, nuts, and insects. Their markings help them blend into their surroundings, while their quick movements and upright posture allow them to stay aware of potential threats.
Peeking between two rocks, the chipmunk is partially hidden with only its upper body visible. Its striped back and small face are framed by the stone, while the soft green background remains gently out of focus.
