About the Image
The Preston pele tower (a fortified dwelling) in Chathill, Northumberland, built between 1392 and 1399 when the border wars between England and Scotland were common. The ground floor contains a prison and guardroom and several rooms in the tower are furnished as they would have appeared in the 14th century.
