Longstone Lighthouse stands on one of the Farne Islands off the Northumberland coast, built in the early 19th century to guide ships through the often hazardous waters of the North Sea. It is closely associated with Grace Darling, whose rescue in 1838 brought national attention to the lighthouse and its keepers. The structure remains an enduring part of the region’s maritime history.
The red and white tower rises above the low island, with adjoining buildings forming a compact cluster along the shoreline.
