The Humboldt penguin (Spheniscus humboldti) is a medium-sized penguin species native to the coasts of Peru and Chile, where it inhabits rocky shores and islands influenced by the cold Humboldt Current. Recognised by its distinctive black-and-white markings and narrow chest band, it is well suited to life both in the water and on land.
