A plasma ball contains a mixture of noble gases sealed within a glass sphere, with a high-voltage electrode at its centre. When an electrical current is applied, the gases ionise, producing glowing plasma that extends outward in branching filaments. The original concept of the plasma lamp was developed by Nikola Tesla during his experiments with high-voltage electricity.
