Shawbost Norse Mill & Kiln is a reconstructed example of a traditional corn mill, based on an Iron Age design that once existed on this site. It remains the only working example of this type of mill in the Western Isles, offering insight into early methods of grain processing and the ingenuity of early communities in adapting to their environment.
The mill and kiln sit low within the landscape, their turf-covered roofs blending into the surrounding grassland.
