Strumble Head Lighthouse stands on Ynysmeicl, a small rocky islet off the Pembrokeshire coast, built to guide ships through a notoriously hazardous stretch of sea between Ireland and Fishguard Harbour. During the 19th century, many vessels were lost along this coastline, leading to the need for a reliable navigational aid. The lighthouse, now automated since 1980, continues to mark this dangerous passage.
