Built in the 4th century BC, it had everything: temples, shops, shrines, public baths, and a view to die for. Hippocrates himself probably strolled through here (Kos is his hometown, after all), possibly on his way to lecture someone about their diet. Over the centuries, it's been shaken by earthquakes and picked over by builders, but what's left still hints at grandeur. You can almost hear the chatter of merchants and smell the olive oil. History doesn't get much sunnier than this.
I took this shot on a blue-sky day when the ruins were glowing in the sun, with wild greenery creeping in around the edges. There's something quietly powerful about it - the way time softens even the grandest structures.
