The three surviving stone windmills on the eastern mole of Mandraki Harbour in Rhodes date from the 14th century and were built during the rule of Grand Master Diedoné de Gozon (1346-1353). Historical sources record that they were constructed by Genoese prisoners and formed part of a chain of about 18 windmills lining the harbour walls. Their primary purpose was to grind grain unloaded from merchant vessels, which was then stored in warehouses inside the fortified town. The line of mills extended towards the medieval Fort of St Nicholas, completed in 1464, which guarded the harbour entrance. Over the centuries, storms, neglect, and changes in shipping reduced their number to three, which have since been restored. Today they stand as an enduring reminder of the island's maritime trade and the engineering skill of the Knights Hospitaller.
Photographing the harbour on a hot afternoon, my image isolates the last two windmills in the row, with one taking centre stage and the second further behind. The clear sky and glowing stone make it feel fresh and still, like a quiet afternoon at the edge of the island. A great piece for anyone who appreciates simple, natural scenes with a timeless quality.

Framed poster prints are often chosen for their simplicity, but low-quality paper, flimsy frames, and awkward self-framing can quickly ruin the result. This framed poster print is designed to avoid those compromises, offering a well-made, ready-to-hang solution that looks good and lasts.
Printed on premium 170gsm semi-gloss paper, the poster delivers strong colour reproduction with a subtle shine that enhances detail without overpowering the image. The semi-gloss finish improves vibrancy while offering increased resistance to light and moisture compared to standard poster papers, helping the artwork retain its appearance over time. All paper used is FSC-certified or equivalent, supporting responsible sourcing.
The solid pine wood frame provides a sturdy, clean-lined presentation without unnecessary bulk. Available in black, white, natural wood or dark brown, each frame features a smooth or natural grain finish depending on colour choice. With a profile measuring approximately 20 to 25mm thick and 10 to 14mm wide, the frame offers a balanced look that works well for framed posters in both home and office spaces.
Each framed poster is protected with shatterproof plexiglass, a lightweight alternative to traditional glass that offers clear visibility while reducing the risk of damage during handling or display. The surface is easy to clean and helps protect the poster from everyday wear.

I'm absolutely made up with the print I received from Real World Art. I went for the Koi Carp image - It's very evocative and they've totally captured the serenity you feel watching Koi. You can almost hear the babbling water! What's more, it's a top quality print, pin-sharp and looks great framed up. Couldn't recommend them any higher.. lovely to deal with.. thank you.
