Whitby Abbey stands on the cliffs above the North Sea, its origins dating back to the 7th century when it was founded as a monastery. The present ruins largely reflect later medieval rebuilding, with Gothic arches and towering windows defining its silhouette. The abbey has long been associated with both religious history and local legend, overlooking the harbour and coastline as a dominant landmark.
In this image, the ruins are reflected in still water in the foreground, creating a near-symmetrical composition. The stone structure rises clearly against a bright sky, while grasses and reeds frame the lower edge of the scene. The reflection adds depth and balance, with natural light highlighting the texture of the stone and the calm surface of the water.

Optional lamination is available in satin or gloss to match your selected paper, providing extra protection against moisture and handling. However, lamination is not recommended for Fine Art Matt paper, as it will obscure its authentic texture.
