Found sunbathing across Greece and the eastern Med, the starred agama (Stellagama stellio), also known as the roughtail rock agama, are little show-offs famous for their impressive colours and even more impressive attitude. Males especially love to puff up their throats and nod their heads when trying to look important - like tiny reptilian bodybuilders. Agamas can change colour slightly depending on their mood or the temperature, and they're brilliantly adapted to rocky, sun-blasted places like Agia Agathi Beach. You'll often spot them flattening themselves on warm stone, pretending to be casual, while keeping one eye fixed right on you. Sassy, ancient, and unbothered - they're lizards with presence.
Now this is a pose. Raised up on his forearms with his throat pouch puffed, this agama looks like he's delivering a motivational speech to the beach. You can practically hear the words: 'This is my rock.' It's pure attitude, lizard-style.
