Oban, in Argyll and Bute on Scotland’s west coast, is a busy harbour town often referred to as the gateway to the Inner Hebrides. Its sheltered bay has long supported fishing, trade, and ferry travel, connecting the mainland to islands such as Mull, Coll, and Tiree. The town grew during the 18th and 19th centuries, with its waterfront and rising hillside reflecting a mix of maritime activity and residential development shaped by the surrounding landscape.
