The Fairy Glen near Uig is a landscape of rounded grassy hills formed by ancient landslips along the Trotternish Peninsula. Among these formations stands Castle Ewen, a basalt-topped mound that resembles the remains of a ruined tower. Its distinctive shape and elevated position make it a focal point within this unusual and almost otherworldly terrain.
A narrow, worn path leads upward through the green slopes toward the rocky summit, drawing the eye directly to Castle Ewen. The surrounding hills rise and fall softly on either side, while patches of exposed earth contrast with the vivid grass.
