Cairnholy I - one of two Neolithic chambered cairns perched high on a hill 4km east of Carsluith, Scotland dating back over 5,000 years. Part of a pair of burial monuments, it reflects early funerary practices, where stone chambers were used for communal burials. These structures were often aligned with the landscape and held cultural or ceremonial significance for the communities that built them.
Standing stones rise from a frost-covered field, their weathered surfaces softened by a light dusting that highlights their texture. A low mist hangs across the background, partially obscuring distant trees and adding depth to the scene. The subdued tones and minimal colour palette emphasise the stark, ancient presence of the stones within the quiet landscape.
