Stanage Edge is one of the most prominent gritstone escarpments in the Peak District National Park, stretching for several miles above the Hope Valley near Hathersage in Derbyshire. Formed from millstone grit laid down over 300 million years ago, the long ridge has become a defining feature of the Dark Peak landscape. Today it is popular with walkers and climbers who are drawn to its sweeping views across the surrounding moorland and valleys.
