Penmon Lighthouse stands just offshore from the eastern tip of Anglesey in North Wales, marking the entrance to the Menai Strait where the Irish Sea meets the narrow waters between Anglesey and the mainland. The lighthouse was built in 1838 to guide ships safely through these often challenging waters, which are known for strong tides and shifting currents. From this point, the small island of Puffin Island sits just beyond the lighthouse, forming a familiar landmark along this stretch of the Welsh coast.
