Tucked away in a peaceful valley on Kos, the Plaka Forest is a quiet haven for dozens of semi-wild cats who've been rescued from Kos Old Town by a lovely couple and their volunteers. Locals and visitors alike drop by with food, treats and the occasional tickle - but the cats come and go on their own terms. In Greek folklore, cats were thought to ward off bad luck and protect homes from misfortune, and here in Plaka, that protective energy feels very real.
