Thurgoland Tunnel forms part of the Trans Pennine Trail, a long-distance route that follows former railway lines across northern England. Stretching for around 924 feet between Penistone and Wortley, it was once used for rail transport and now serves walkers and cyclists. The tunnel’s curved design and enclosed structure reflect its industrial origins while continuing to connect the surrounding landscape.
