Cornish Heritage framed wall art - professionally finished and available up to a 18in x 12in Print in a 24in x 16in Frame.
A stream flowing through dense woodland, past hidden ruins, this scene creates a rich and atmospheric focal point suited to nature-led interiors. Ideal for living rooms, studies, or quiet spaces, it pairs well with natural textures and muted tones, adding depth and a sense of calm.
The Kennall Vale Nature Reserve is a very well-hidden valley between Redruth and Falmouth, Cornwall. It was the site of the Kennall Vale gunpowder factory which started production about 1812 and supplied the local Cornish mines, employing about 50 men by 1850. When more sophisticated explosives came onto the market in the 1880s, the factory declined before closing in the early 1900s.
In May 1838 'Five mills blew up in succession, and part of a roof was found a mile from the premises. The reports were most terrific and created the greatest alarm over an extensive tract of country'. Amazingly only one man lost his life.
A narrow stream winds through moss-covered banks, leading toward partially hidden stone ruins set among trees. The soft green canopy filters light across the scene, while the layered composition draws the eye deeper into the woodland. The balance between flowing water and still structure creates a calm, immersive view.
