Cornish Tin Mines framed poster - cleanly presented and available up to 24in x 16in.
With its strong vertical structure and monochrome tones, South Wheal Frances Mine creates a bold and architectural focal point suited to modern or heritage interiors. Ideal for living rooms, studies, or feature walls, it pairs well with neutral palettes, adding contrast and depth.
South Wheal Frances is a former copper and tin mine on the Great Flat Lode, just south of Camborne, Cornwall, and was the largest of the four setts that eventually amalgamated under the umbrella of Basset Mines Ltd.
Mining began in the local area in the early 1720s and by the early 20th century, several thousand men, women, bal maidens and children worked in the mine, however a slump in tin prices during World War I led to the mine's closure in 1918. Once part of a network of mines that shaped the Cornish landscape and economy, the remaining engine houses and chimneys now stand as reminders of 19th-century mining activity. These structures were built to house steam engines used for pumping water and raising ore from deep underground.
In monochrome, the engine house stands prominently with its chimney rising above dense vegetation. A second structure appears further back, adding depth to the scene. The contrast between light sky and darker foreground emphasises the texture of the stone and the strong vertical elements within the composition.
This framed poster offers a simple and contemporary way to display your chosen image. Professionally printed and presented within a lightweight wooden frame, it provides a clean, ready-to-hang option suitable for a wide range of interiors.
Your image is printed on 170gsm semi-gloss poster paper, producing clear detail and balanced colour with a subtle sheen. The semi-gloss surface enhances vibrancy while reducing excessive glare, allowing the artwork to remain visible in a variety of lighting conditions. All paper used is FSC-certified or equivalent, supporting responsibly sourced materials.
The poster is fitted within a solid pine wood frame with a slim, modern profile that complements both contemporary and classic styles. Frames are available in black, white, natural wood, or dark brown, with either a smooth or natural grain finish depending on the colour selected.
Each frame is fitted with shatter-resistant plexiglass, a lightweight alternative to traditional glass that offers clear viewing while helping to protect the artwork from everyday handling. The smooth surface is easy to clean and helps maintain the appearance of the print over time.
Supplied with a hanging kit and ready to hang on arrival, this old cornish mine framed poster print provides a straightforward way to add framed artwork to your home or workspace.
