With their bright yellow underbellies and charmingly slow movements, yellow-bellied slider turtles are a firm favourite among reptile fans. Native to the southeastern United States, they love basking in the sun and can often be seen stacked up on logs or rocks like sunbathing statues. They're semi-aquatic, spending time both in the water and on land, and they can live for several decades.
Despite their relaxed pace, these turtles are surprisingly alert and agile in the water. And those patterned shells and sunny markings? Utterly photogenic.
